Nestled along the picturesque Frio River, Frio Cañon is a tranquil environment that lends itself to outdoor adventure, creative inspiration and to quality time with friends and family.
Frio Cañon is unique in its commitment to architectural excellence and to the preservation of the area's majestic scenery and diverse wildlife. The community is the vision of David Dalgleish, owner of Austin-based Dalgleish Construction Company, which has been building high-end architectural homes for more than 30 years.
Frio Cañon encompasses 180 acres of land and is located on an old ranch property purchased by Frio Cañon Partners in 2007. Approximately 100 acres of land, including a mountainous area, have been set aside for wildlife preservation and community recreation. The Frio River provides dependable cold, crystal-clear water even in the midst of a 100-year drought.
The community includes 30 casita sites spread out over 125 acres and 31 waterfront home sites. Frio Cañon offers the opportunity to invest in a legacy community, a family get-away for generations to come.
The magic of Frio Cañon is a community of families and friends. Our members, specifically the kids, are excited to join a community where old friends call home and new friendships are forged. We often refer to it as “the ranch your kids want to go to,” because no one feels isolated on this unique property. Frio Cañon is more than a second home, more than an investment in the regal Texas Hill Country. It is a place to enjoy while the sun is setting, watching children of all ages enjoy the grounds while parents visit over a glass of wine. These lifetime memories draw the next generation back years later after leaving home and raising a family of their own. This is why we call Frio Cañon a “legacy community,” an experience that everyone needs to embrace.
Frio’s member families enjoy the property’s shared amenities including the Red House, which serves as a community center complete with a place for outdoor movies, Alaskan hot tub and bath house, as well as 100 acres of shared wildlife preserve with a planned fitness trail, history walking trail, two dedicated wildflower fields, and a future mountain top skeet facility.
On-site activities range from swimming, tubing, kayaking and fly-fishing, to mountain biking, bird watching and star gazing, outdoor cookouts and movie nights.
Full time property management can help you with concierge services such as arrival preparation, event planning, hunting opportunities, fly-fishing lessons, massages, golf at the nearby Club at Concan and other regional activities.
Several award-winning Texas architects have created original designs for Frio Cañon that range from traditional to contemporary. The riverfront homes, cottages and hillside casitas all reflect a deep appreciation of old-world craftsmanship, antique materials and fine architectural detailing. Each site plan is designed to ensure that community members fully delight in the area’s extraordinary vistas, refreshing river breezes and calming sounds of the outdoors.
Owners can have their home custom designed by Texas’s best architects, or if a streamlined process is preferred, owners can pick from a number of pre-approved designs all uniquely scaled to your personal site. Frio Cañon founder, David Dalgleish of Dalgleish Construction Company, recommends a number of Texas architects found in the reference section.
